WHY WE DO IT

There are many organizations that are focused on this mission today. Code.org is probably the leader here. CoderDojo is another. CodeAcademy, Udacity and others have developed free content to teach programming.

  • Acces to education

Every person should have the opportunity to learn computer science. We believe computer science and computer programming should be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra.

  • Improve the development of 21st century skills

We are more and more exposed to technology like iPads, iPhones, and games on the Internet. We get more interested in technology, and want to talk to other people who are also interested in technology. In the short term, TechDrive is about connecting people with similar interests.

  • Guidance in choosing a career path

In the longer term, there is a huge trend today toward a higher and higher demand in industry for computer programmers and engineers. There is a significant shortage of that skill today; our focus is to help kids, teens and adults further along on their path of interest in technology and programming.
